Junior Evoque plan by Renault 26 | 04 | 2011

RENAULT IS PLANNING to turn it's exciting, dramatic Captur concept, first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March, into two showroom models.

Company insiders have indicated the mainstream version will be a small five-door similar in size to the Nissan Juke and will naturally share the company's Renault-Nissan Alliance platform.

Perhaps more exciting — and closer to the concept car pictured — will be a three-door version. It's likely the smaller version will come stacked with some unique design features and will be close to a smaller-scale Range Rover Evoque.

Renault believe the production versions of the futuristic-looking Captur small crossover concept coupe could be the first of its kind in this class; the French manufacturer hopes it will give it a major foothold in the sector similar to that achieved by BMW with the Mini, and Citroen with its DS3.

It's expected the production version of the five-door Captur should appear in Scottish Renault showrooms well within two years; the three-door will follow shortly after.
