Monty drives Maggie's Appeal with JCMG 25 | 02 | 2011

ONE OF SCOTLAND'S leading motor groups, Aberdeen-based John Clark, has joined forces with Ryder Cup hero Colin Montgomerie to raise funds for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.

These centres, which serve hundreds of cancer sufferers and their families across Scotland every year, offer people the space, the time, the skills and the support to understand and manage their experience of cancer.

The newly-forged partnership will drive forward fundraising for Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal which is jointly run by the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation – a charity set up in memory of Colin’s mother who died of cancer – and Maggie’s Centres.

Montgomerie, who captained the European team to Ryder Cup glory in Wales last October, met John Clark’s business development director, Chris Clark, to find out about more about the fundraising activities which the family-run motor group have in place to help raise thousands for the appeal.

Charity champions from each of the group’s dealerships in Aberdeen, Dundee, Fife and Edinburgh will be raising funds for their local centres. In Aberdeen, they will be supporting the creation of a new Maggie’s Centre in the city.

“I have met with John Clark Group’s owners and charity champions today and their passion and commitment for the appeal is going to be a great help in driving forward our fundraising in 2011," Montgomerie said. The multiple European No1's views were echoed by Chris Clark.

“We are honoured that Colin could join us today to launch this partnership between Maggie’s Centres and the John Clark Motor Group," he explained.

"The work Colin Montgomerie is doing through his foundation is admirable and I am glad our dealerships in Aberdeen will be supporting Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal to bring a Maggie’s Centre to Aberdeen.

“We have a great link to Maggie’s Centres as our dealerships across Scotland are in locations which mirror where current Maggie’s Centres exist and our staff, therefore, already know of the great value that a Maggie’s Centre can bring to a community. Colin’s launch of the partnership has set us off on a great start and I’m sure all will be inspired to follow his lead.”

The John Clark Motor Group is Scotland’s fourth-largest motortrade group and within the top 30 in the UK. It has an annual turnover of £260 million, 637 employees and 16 motor trade business in Aberdeen, Dundee, Fife and Edinburgh.
