Scots taking orders for new Yaris 13 | 07 | 2011

SCOTAND'S TOYOTA dealerships have opened their order books for the new Yaris, which will cost from £11,170. At launch, three powertrains will be available: two petrol, a 1.0-litre and 1.33-litre, plus a 1.4-litre D-4D turbodiesel. Next year will see the introduction of a hybrid version. There are also four trim levels starting with the entry-level T2, and rising to the TR, SR and range-topping T-Spirit.

The entry-level T2 Yaris is powered by a three-cylinder 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine producing 68bhp and 69lb/ft of torque; it will return 58.9mpg and emit just 111g/km CO2.

Buyers stepping up to the mid-range TR — which is expected to account for around two-thirds of Yaris sales, and is available in all engine combinations — get air-con, 15in alloys, a rear parking camera, Bluetooth and Toyota’s ‘Touch’ infotainment system with touchscreen audio controls.

The £13,335 SR meanwhile is available only with the 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine. SR spec adds 16-inch alloys, rear spoiler, front fog lamps, part-leather interior, lower suspension and tinted windows.

The range-topping 1.33-litre T-Spirit Yaris start from £14,385 for the six-speed manual, with the CVT ’box model costing £15,385. The range-topper gets a panoramic glass roof, climate control, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers and ‘smart entry and start'.

The entry-level £14,260 1.4-litre D-4D Yaris TR produces 89bhp and 151lb ft of torque. Fuel economy has been improved by 7%, up to 72.4mpg, compared with the previous version, with CO2 emissions under 104g/km.
