Hyundai i40 estate from £18,395 02 | 06 | 2011

SCOTLAND'S HYUNDAI network will receive the all-new i40 estate in September; prices will start at £18,395 for the entry-level 1.6-litre petrol engined version and in base Active trim. It undercuts Ford's entry-level Mondeo estate by £560 and Vauxhall's base Insignia estate by almost £1000.

There's also a 111bhp 1.7-litre diesel with fuel economy of 65.7mpg and class-leading CO2 emissions of just 113g/km; in Active trim it'll cost from £19,395. A 134bhp version of the engine with 119g/km CO2 emissions is available from £20,195.

The comprehensive engine range also includes a 2.0-litre petrol which will be available from £23,795 and is only available in top-spec Premium trim.

Hyundai is also taking the fight to the opposition by ensuring the new estate is well-specced, even in standard form; 16in alloys, Bluetooth connectivity, electric windows, an electric parking brake and a leather steering wheel are all included.

Step up to the mid-range Style spec and you get a touch-screen sat-nav, cruise control, dual-zone climate control and front and rear parking sensors, while top-spec Premium trim adds leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and the option of Lane Departure Warning and Smart Parking Assist, heated leather steering wheel and ventilated front seats. A saloon mode will follow at the end of the year.
