Passat Bluemotion does 68.9mpg 08 | 06 | 2011

VOLKSWAGEN HAS launched this Bluemotion version of its new Passat. Capable of 68.9mpg and with CO2 emissions of just 109g/km in saloon guise, the car is powered by the VW Group’s familiar 104bhp 1.6-litre common-rail turbodiesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The Passat Bluemotion is also available as an estate, where economy is 65.7mpg and CO2 emissions are 113g/km.

The car benefits from a range of fuel-saving features, including low rolling resistance tyres, lower suspension, an underbody panel, revised aerodynamics to reduce drag, a revised front grille, and stop-start. There's also a rear spoiler on the saloon, and standard equipment includes climate control, iPod connectivity and curtain airbags.

The saloon model starts at £19,875, while the estate kicks off at £21,180. It is available to order now and will reach Scottish showrooms from the end of July.
