BEN's Scots ball a £13,000 success 24 | 03 | 2011

SCOTLAND'S MOTORING industry helped raise more than £13,000 after 200 guests attended the BEN Scotland Ball — the first since 2008 — at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow. The event was held in conjunction with the Scottish Motor Trade Association and the funds will go to the automotive industry charity BEN.

“After a two year hiatus during the recent recession we were delighted by the response to the reinstatement of the BEN Scotland Ball," BEN’s Chief Executive, David Main, explained.

"Events such as this one are vital for BEN as they help ensure our profile remains high and raise funds to help us provide care and support for those in our industries who need it. Our heartfelt thanks to the SMTA for their hard work and support in organising this event.” Main's views were supported by SMTS chief executive Douglas Robertson.
“We were delighted to be involved in the organisation of the BEN Scotland Ball and we were especially pleased at the size of the attendance for this, the first Ball since 2008," the SMTA boss said.

"We look forward to a further increase in numbers in the years to come now that the Ball is back on the calendar for the Scottish motor trade.”

BEN is the Automotive Industry Charity, the only occupational charity for those who work or have worked in the automotive and related industries. Founded in 1905, the Charity provides practical help, support, advice and friendship to more than 15,000 men and women and children connected to the industry every year. In addition BEN provides a home or daycare to over 350 individuals at its five care centres throughout the UK.
