Scots hit by £2000 Leaf price hike 21 | 03 | 2011

NISSAN HAS increased the price of going green by almost 10%; the Japanese company has been forced to raise the price of its new Leaf electric car by £2000, meaning Scots will now have to pay £25,990 after the £5000 Government incentive has been included.

Nissan says the rise from £23,990 is down to a shift in the exchange rate with the yen. The company said the yen had deteriorated by 14% against the pound since the car was priced last year but that the £2000 increase is only a 6.3% hike for buyers.

Nissan started the deliveries of the first Leaf models to customers across the UK this week.
