Dacia reveals Pikes Peak stunner 27 | 05 | 2011

THIS MEAN-LOOKING machine is the Dacia Duster ‘No Limit,’ which has been purpose-built specifically to tackle the notorious the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 26.

The company describes it as an “extremely powerful car" — that'll be because not only is it powered by Nissan’s 3.8-litre V6 engine borrowed from the GT-R, it's been “tuned to deliver maximum performance” …. 838bhp!

As you might expect, the engine has been mated to something special too; a ‘specially developed’ sequential six-speed Sadev gearbox.

As you can see, the external features of the car include glass-fibre shell with flared arches, front splitter and massive rear wing.

The powerful-looking package car will compete in the ‘Unlimited’ class, which sets no restrictions on power, weight, transmission or tyres. The car will be driven by three-time winner of the Trophée Andros, Jean-Philippe Dayraut.

"The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is the only event where you get to keep a monster like this in check while drifting at speeds of 200kph on a course which features a mix of asphalt and dirt,” Dayraut said.

"I can't think of any other form of motorsport where such cars are authorised."

The current lap record for the 20km stretch stands at 10min 1.42sec.
