Evoque to star at Scottish Motor Show 11 | 05 | 2011

SCOTLAND'S OFFICIAL MOTORSHOW returns to Knockhill next weekend (May 21/22) and the gala event, supported again by the Scottish Motor Trade Association, promises to deliver a number of notable first for Scottish car fans.

Now in its eighth year, the Motorshow brings some of the UK's major car manufacturers/dealers to Fife to showcase their latest models to Scottish market. The show is much more than a static car show; there is an opportunity for the public to sample these latest offerings on track or off-road.

The Official Scottish Motorshow has been dubbed 'the moving motorshow'. Alongside the cars/exhibits there is plenty of other entertainment on offer including, stunt shows, kids entertainment, air displays and fun fairs.

Range Rover will present its new mini-SUV the Range Rover Evoque (pictured) at Knockhill before it's official launch this summer. Indeed, it's only the second UK pre-launch preview of the car which see's Range Rover move away from its traditional 'Off Road' roots.

The Evoque is the smallest ever Range Rover and boasts better fuel consumption and lower C02 emissions than any other previous model. Interestingly the Evoque will be marketed to a younger, more female audience for urban use rather than off-road.

Making a return to the automotive industry and Knockhill is MG, with its new MG6 Sports Fastback. Now owned by the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, the MG brand makes a return to the market after a 16-year absence.

The new MG6 is built around those core, 87-year-old MG values that made it such a popular marque. The MG6, designed and built right here in the UK, comes with three levels of trim (S, SE & TSE), enabling the car to reach a broader market. Knockhill will have the first ever MG6 on show in the UK.

"The Official Scottish Motorshow brings together the traditional elements of a static motor show, but provides interactive elements that let the public really enjoy the vehicles on show," Stuart Gray, events director at Knockhill, said.

"Potential customers can sample their favourite car brand first hand, sometimes even before their official launch. We have a great line up of cars this year, with a whole zone dedicated to new eco and environmentally friendly models."

The Scottish Motorshow traditionally offers lots of activities for young and old with special exhibits, interactive displays and fun fairs. Stunt shows have also become a regular feature and this year's show promises to eclipse all others. Kevin Carmichael, World Stunt Riding Champion, will showcase his two-wheel driving prowess in front of the assembled crowds.

Meanwhile in the skies above Knockhill, the Arbarth Air Display will perform jaw-dropping stunts. The Extra 330sc plane will be piloted by nine-times British Champion, Mark Jefferies who is renowned as one of the UK's best ever aerobatic pilots.

Tickets for the show can be purchased via the Knockhill website, www.knockhill.com. Ticket prices range from £13 for adults to £32 for a family of four bought in advance. Children under 12 go free.
