First sight of 710bhp Ferrari 599 27 | 02 | 2012

THIS SLIGHTLY GRAINY image is believed to be what will become Ferrari's most powerful-ever road car, the successor to the Ferrari 599. Rumours exist that it will have 710bhp.

Scheduled to be unveiled next week, the photo is believed to show a wooden styling model designed to show how the finished car will look.

Naturally, confirmed details of the new 599 are few and far between, but we do know it will be powered by the next generation of the direct-injection 6.3-litre V12. It's the same engine used in the FF, an d based on the original 599/Enzo unit and capable of 850bhp in the FXX Evoluzione.

Believed also to be lighter than the model it replaces, thanks largely to breakthrough structural and detailed engineering design, the majority which is delivered by the Ferrari’s alloy monocoque body.
