New Mazda CX-5 starts at £21,395 14 | 02 | 2012

MAZDA'S NEW SUV, the CX-5 — the model which pioneers the Japanese manufacturer's new SkyActiv technology — will have an entry price of £21,395.

Mazda's Scottish dealerships have already opened their order books, and first deliveries are due in the Spring.

The CX-5 is available with the choice of two powerplants: the 163bhp 2.0-litre SkyActiv petrol and 2.2-litre SkyActiv diesels with either 148bhp or 173bhp. Both are available with either two or four-wheel drive.

There's also the choice of four trim levels: SE-L, SE-L Nav, Sport and Sport Nav. The CX-5 SE-L model comes with 17in alloys, climate control and zircon as standard. It also gets front and rear parking sensors and tinted windows.

Step up to Sport and you get 19 alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights, heated leather seats and a reversing camera.

The range also gets a 2WD 148bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel which, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, returns 61.4mpg. It also emits just 119g/km Co2, which puts the car in the £30 per year road tax band C.

    2WD petrols:

    Cheapest — 2.0 SE-L: £21,395, 139g/km CO2

    Most expensive — 2.0 Sport NAV: £23,995, 139g/km CO2

    2WD diesels:
