£2000 boost for Scots Air Ambulance 10 | 10 | 2018
SCOTLAND’S CHARITY AIR AMBULANCE has received a donation of £2000 from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW). (Related: Scots Air Ambulance gets cash boost)
All of the money was raised during the Scottish Car of the Year awards to support this essential emergency service that covers the whole of Scotland.
The cheque was presented to David Craig, the Chief Executive of Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), by ASMW President John Murdoch and Treasurer Ally Ballingall. (Related: Land Rover supplies Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance with Discovery)
“It’s with a great deal of pride and appreciation for the work of everyone at the SCAA that the ASMW donates this money,” Murdoch said. “The amazing work of the SCAA has saved countless lives.
“This cheque is about more than just money: it shows our ongoing support for the SCAA that is often the vital difference to survival for drivers unfortunate enough to be involved in a collision. We’re incredibly lucky to have an air ambulance that can reach 90% of Scotland’s population in a flight of less than 30 minutes.”
And SCAA boss David Craig expressed the charity's gratitude for more outstanding support from the ASMW.
“Motoring journalists are very aware of the vital service provided by SCAA,” Craig said, “and nowhere more so than at the scene of life-threatening road traffic collisions on Scotland's most remote and rural roads.
‘The ASMW's support for what the charity does for those most in need has seen them donate to us on several occasions and their ongoing support is greatly appreciated. Their donation will undoubtedly help to save lives.”
Ally Ballingall, who also acts as an ambassador for the SCAA, added: “Scotland Charity Air Ambulance is funded entirely through public donations, and any help the ASMW can offer is always gladly given.
“As well as the money, we want to raise awareness and support for the SCAA and the life-saving work they do every day. With the next Scottish Car of the Year awards coming up on Friday, November 2, we hope to raise even more money for this essential service.”
After the 2017 Scottish Car of the Year awards, Land Rover generously donated a new Discovery to the SCAA to use as support vehicle for its emergency response and to raise public awareness of the charity.
