One-off Ferrari Omologata 19 | 10 | 2020

FERRARI HAS INTRODUCED a special one-off model, the Omologata. Featuring a coachbuilt aluminium body, it’s the 10th unique front-engined V12 Ferrari to emerge from the Maranello gates since the P540 Superfast Aperta in 2009. (Related: Ferrari unveils new 488 Challenge Evo)

Commissioned by a European-based Ferrari customer, the project took around two years to complete from the initial sketches to the finished example.

Though it’s based on the 812 Superfast, only the windscreen and headlights are carried over on the outside; though it does retain the 6.5-litre V12 engine. In truth, the Omologata’s hand-beaten aluminium forms a much more flowing shape than the donor car. (Related: Exclusive interview with F1 boss Ross Brawn)

There’s no rear window. Instead three rear louvres slice into the rear engine cover, which in turn is flanked by two ircular tail lamps. Externally the look is completed with a unique paint finish named Rosso Magma, plus subtle racing decals, including ghost-like ‘7’ numerals. (Related: Ferrari reveals SF90 Stradale hybrid)

Inside the cabin, the layout is much like the 812; but not surprisingly, there are a number of unique points of detail. Blue seats finished in a mix of leather and Jeans Aunde (an alcantara-like fabric), contrast with the black dashboard. There’s also metal trim on the dashboard.

The central ‘Ferrari F1 bridge’ and the door handles carry another retro touch, featuring a hammered paint finish; Ferrai says this is much like the effect seen on classics like the 250 LM and 250 GTO. (Related: Ferrari's one-off P80/C track car)

Ferrari hasn’t released any performance figures for the Omologata. Suffice to say they’re likely to closely mirror those of the 812 Superfast. With a round 789bhp and 718Nm of torque, that would mean 0-62mph in around 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of close to 211mph.
