MG ZS EV facelift on-sale in UK now 01 | 11 | 2021

MG’s FACELIFTED ZS EV — complete with a new 72kWh battery pack that increases up the SUV’s maximum range by 110 miles to 273 miles —  is now available to order in the UK. Prices start at £28,495 including the government’s £2500 plug-in car grant. (Related: Updates for Citroen C4 and e-C4)

And in addition to the newly extended driving range, the facelifted ZS EV benefits from a new look, sharper styling and new interior technology. Early next year will also see the arrival of A cheaper 51kWh Standard Range model which will have a range of 198 miles on a single charge.

But it’s the larger 72kWh battery pack which is getting the headlines. It powers an electric motor driving the front axle, which develops 154bhp and 280Nm of torque. The combo is good — according to MG — for a time of 8.4secs from 0-62mph, and a top speed of 108mph. (Related: New Range Rover gets plug-in hybrid)

Rapid charging is available on the ZS EV and remains at 76kW; that equates to a 42-minute charge for the Long Range model when connected to a CCS charger capable of that power flow or more. Used a 7kW wallbox and a full charge takes 10.5 hours. (Related: Hyundai Ioniq 5 available to order now)

The latest model also benefits from a new vehicle-to-load function to ZS EV, meaning owners can use the EV’s battery pack to use electrical equipment such as power tools.

The ZS EV line-up is separated into three specifications, called SE Long Range, Trophy Long Range and Trophy Connect Long Range.

The Trophy model, priced at £30,995 (after PiCG), adds a panoramic ‘Sky Roof’ and leather-style seats, along with more convenience options such as roof rails, heated front seats, electric driver’s seat adjustment, rain-sensing wipers and wireless phone charging.

Bringing the highest level of technology is the Trophy Connect, which adds iSMART with live services (weather, traffic and Amazon Prime). The Trophy Connect is priced at £31,495 after PiCG.

All ZS EVs benefit from just 1% benefit-in-kind P11D values for company car users until April 2022, and only 2% BiK thereafter for the 2022/23 tax year.

The new MG ZS EV will be offered in five colours including bold Battersea Blue, which is new to the range. Other colours in the lie-up are Arctic White, Black Pearl, , Monument Silver and Dynamic Red.
