Fifer Jonny Adam targets WEC podiumposted in MSPOR30 | 10 | 2015

FIFER JONNY ADAM, the newly-crowned British GT champion, is targeting a podium finish in China this weekend. The Scot will fire up his works' Aston Martin for the Six Hours of Shanghai, the penultimate round of the World Endurance Championship.

And the 31-year-old from Kirkcaldy is aiming to emulate his achievements in the same race in 2013, when he finished third in the same race in his No96 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE.

Since clinching the British GT title in his Beechdean Aston Martin, the talented Scot has competed in the WEC in both Austin, Texas, and Fuji in Japan.

Partnered by fellow Aston works' driver Darren Turner in the No97 V8 Vantage GTE, Adam delivered solid points finishes in the Pro class in both races.

On his return from Japan, the Scot then teamed up with another factory Aston Martin colleague, Alex MacDowall, and his British GT driving partner and 2015 champ, Andrew Howard, to help Beechdean AMR to a podium finish on its debut in the GTE class of the European Le Mans Series in Portugal.

Despite unusually wet and wild conditions in Estoril, the trio took second place in the four-hour race, a promising build-up to a full ELMS campaign for Beechdean in 2016.

"It's been a hectic season," Adam explained, "but there is still a couple of really important races coming up.

"To be able to represent Aston Martin Racing at UK, European and World Championship level is a massive privilege, and we won't be letting up the fight to show that we are one of the strongest teams in the paddock.

"I've finished on the podium here before two years ago, so it would be fantastic to bag another Shanghai podium. It's a great circuit, and a fantastic place to be racing. But it'll look even nicer from the podium."
