New Fiat 500 1.2 Eco on-sale 20 | 01 | 2016

FIAT HAS LAUNCHED the most popular engine in the 500 range with an enhanced ‘Eco’ specification. The new 1.2 Eco comes hot on the heels of the new Fiat 500 1.3 MultiJet II turbo diesel.

On-sale now at Scottish dealers with prices starting at £11,865, the new 1.2 Eco delivers 69bhp, returns 65.7mpg at the pumps and emits just 99g/km CO2, a reduction of 11g/km over the 'standard' 1.2-litre. The Eco version, which carries a £100 premium over its sibling, cuts the annual road tax bill from £20 to £0 and reduces company car BIK tax liability from 17% to just 14% compared to the standard 1.2 69hp model.

It also covers the 0-62mph journey in 12.9 seconds and has a top speed of 99mph.

The newcomer is equipped with a host of efficiency technologies including a smart alternator, improved underbody aerodynamics and low rolling resistance 15-inch tyres, as well as Start & Stop; the latter is standard across the Fiat 500 range.

One of the safest cars in its segment, the latest 500 is fitted with larger front brake discs, plus seven airbags (front, window and side airbags, plus a driver's knee airbag), ABS with electronic brake distribution (EBD), advanced electronic stability control (ESC), anti-slip regulation (ASR), Hill Holder and hydraulic brake assistance (HBA) all as standard.

The 1.2 Eco is available in two specs — Pop Star and Lounge — with prices starting at £11,865, and £14,515 for the convertible.
