Official: 200mph Jaguar F-Type SVR 27 | 01 | 2016

JAGUAR HAS RELEASED official pics of its new F-Type SVR: the car, designed by Scot Ian Callum, will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Today's release comes after a brochure was leaked last week.

Understandably, Jaguar has only confirmed limited details, including its 200mph top speed and theft there will be both coupe and convertible models.

A supercharged 5.0-litre V8 — believed to deliver 567bhp — will power the car, which will have all-wheel drive as standard, with drive sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Expect the F-Type SVR to cover the 0-62mph sprint in just 3.7sec, 0.4sec faster than the AWD F-Type R. As for top speed, Jaguar says it'll hit 200mph, comfortably beating the R’s 186mph top speed.

The SVR gets carbon ceramic brakes, which are 21kg lighter than the standard car’s items, a lightweight titanium exhaust, which saves 12kg, and forged aluminium wheels that save 10kg over the F-Type R.

A more prominent rear diffuser, a large front spoiler and a rear wing that is claimed to reduce lift by up to 80%, all contribute to better aerodynamics. Improved engine and brake cooling is further boosted by larger air intakes.

“The new F-Type SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design," Jaguar Land Rover's special operations managing director, John Edwards, said.

“The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day – we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system.”

The car, when it's launched in the summer, is expected to cost around £100,000.
