Vauxhall reveals new Zafira Tourer 01 | 06 | 2016

VAUXHALL HAS UNVEILED its new Zafira Tourer. Boasting an Astra-inspired look, the new Zafira Tourer — due in Scottish showrooms in October — also gets a host of new technology options.

Vauxhall, which continues to lead the sales charts ion Scotland, has given the new Zafira Tourer MPV new headlamps — with ‘double wing’ daytime running lights — plus an updated grille and more muscular wheelarches.

Looking wider, squatter and more like the new Astra than before, the new model also benefits from a new interior.

Most notable is the new dash its neat integrated screen, which replaces the old top-mounted system. Out too has gone the plethora of buttons, too, meaning the facia is easier to use on the move.

The Tourer also gets Vauxhall’s latest IntelliLink infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and OnStar. The latter is the brand’s innovative concierge system that can download destinations to the sat-nav, and even call the emergency services after an accident. There’s also a 4G WiFi hotspot.

A front of the new Zafira Tourer, Vauxhall has fitted a camera system which helps with safety, allowing for forward collision alert, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

Not surprisingly, the facelifted Zafira Tourer sticks with the outgoing car’s Flex7 seating. Practical solutions, like the Flex-Fix bicycle carrier and FlexRide adaptive damping, have also been retained.

As with the previous model, the boot has 710-litre capacity with the third row of seats folded flat: that grows to 1860 litres with the second row folded.

Vauxhall has yet to confirm the engines which will be slotted into the Zafira Tourer, but it’s expected to inherit the Astra’s turbo petrol and diesel range. That means the big sellers are likely to be the 1.6 diesel and 1.4 turbo petrol.

Though prices won’t be revealed until closer to the Zafira Tourer going on-sale in October, expect the range to start close to £19,000: the current Zafira Tourer  starts at £17,815, but the new model comes with much better styling and significantly extra kit.
