    A SCOTTISH MITSUBISHI dealership has has invested in six new electric vehicle charging points to meet demand as sales of the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) continue to rise.

    Phoenix Mitsubishi, in Linwood Road, Paisley now has eight rapid charging points for customers to use, with the demand being driven by the growing popularity of the Outlander PHEV.

    "The success of the Outlander PHEV has spurred us on to have these extra charging points installed," dealer principal Dom D’Agostino said. "There are only going to be more hybrids on the road, so we want to be able to provide for our customers.

    "In the past, hybrid cars were seen as a bit different but now people are really embracing hybrid technology: it’s the way to go.’

    The multi-award-winning Outlander PHEV has an all-electric range of 32.5 miles that easily accommodates average daily driving distances, and an efficient 2.0-litre petrol engine to deliver an anxiety-free combined driving range in excess of 500 miles.

    Sales of Mitsubishi vehicles in February were up 28% compared with the same month last year according to figures released by the SMMT. The rise was driven by a 41% increase in sales of the Outlander PHEV. The 4x4 SUV continues to lead the hybrid and electric car sector in 2016.
