Renault reveals hottest Twingo 23 | 11 | 2016

RENAULT HAS REVEALED the pricing for its hottest rear-wheel-drive city car, the Twingo GT. Along with the Twingo Dynamique S, the GT will go on-sale at Scottish dealers on December 1 with prices starting at £13,755.

The GT comes with an uprated 108bhp version of the Twingo’s turbocharged 898cc three-cylinder engine, thanks to new engine mapping and the addition of a revised air intake.

The GT produces 19bhp more than the current most powerful Twingo. Just for good measure, the GT also benefits from new gearbox ratios which help improve response times.

Capable of hitting 62moh from standstill in 9.6secs, the Twingo GT will carry on to a max of 113mph. Mid-range, Renault says the GT will accelerate from 50-75mph in 9s.

The car’s chassis settings and variable-ratio steering has been tweaked by Renault Sport to enhance the GT’s agility. And there’s increased, dynamic handling as a result of changes to mapping for the electronic stability programme (ESP).

Taking inspiration from the Twin’Run concept of 2013, the Twingo GT gets a set of exterior stripes, plus 17in alloys and a twin-exit exhaust system. There’s also Renault Sport-badged door sills, aluminium pedals and a metal gearknob.

Buyers get the choice of four colours: an orange that is unique to the model, plus Lunar Grey, Diamond Black, Crystal White.

Entering Scottish showrooms at the same time, the Twingo Dynamique S is a revised model that replaces the current car with the same name.

Priced from £12,205 and slotting into the range below the GT, the Dynamique S gets an 898cc engine in either turbocharged 89bhp or naturally aspirated 69bhp spec mated to a five-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Quickest of the Dynamique S models is the TCe 90, which can hit 62mph in 10.8sec. The most efficient, the SCe 70, returns 67.3mpg, according to Renault, and emits 95g/km of CO2.

Aluminium pedals and part-leather upholstery are standard in the cabin, with 16in diamond cut alloys outside. GT bodywork, extra tinted windows, automatic lights and wipers and parking sensors are available as options.
