2017 Audi A5 Sportback revealed 08 | 09 | 2016

AUDI HAS REVEALED the latest version of its four-door A5 Sportback. The car will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show later this month.

The car will be available to order from Audi’s Scottish dealer network from the autumn, with prices expected to start around £30,500.

Boasting more cabin space than its coupĂ© equivalent, while sharing the same line-up of engines, the new four-door enjoys an extra 17mm of cabin space thanks to its lengthened rear section.

Passengers get an extra 11mm of extra shoulder space and 24mm of rear knee room. Bootspace has grown by 15-litres to 480 litres. That increases to 1300 litres with the 40/20/40-split rear seats down.

Mirroring the engine range of the coupé, the Sportback gets 2.0TFSI petrol and 2.0TDI diesel turbocharged four-cylinder units in various states of tune. The range tops-out with the 282bhp 3.0-litre six-cylinder TDI diesel.

Buyers get the choice of the standard six-speed manual, or the optional eight-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The S5 model comes with the 349bhp 3.0-litre TFSI petrol unit slotted under the bonnet.

Front-wheel drive is standard across the range, though, naturally, Audi’s iconic quattro four-wheel drive is offered as an option and comes as standard on the 282bhp 3.0-litre and S5 variants. Those two models also get optional sport differentials to further boost traction.

And while the range-topping S5 gets 19in alloys, the entry-level models sit in 17in wheels, with 18in available for higher-spec models.

Variable suspension, which uses continuous damping control technology, is standard across the new A5 Sportback range, and works in tandem with the car’s four driving modes: Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Efficiency.

    Technology

Audi’s Virtual Cockpit system — which includes a 12.3in high-definition digital instrument panel, as well as the latest evolution of Audi’s MMI (Multi Media Interface) Plus infotainment system — is available as an option.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a wireless smartphone charging pad and a Bang & Olufsen sound system are all also available as options.
