2017 Tiguan Allspace unveiled 10 | 01 | 2017

VOLKSWAGEN HAS LIFTED the wraps from its seven-seater Tiguan Allspace in Detroit. It’s expected to arrive in Scottish showrooms towards the end of 2017 with prices starting around £26,000, £3000 more than the standard Tiguan.

To be available in three trim levels — Trendline, Comfortline and Highline — the Allspace is 215mm longer than the standard model, including 110mm added to the wheelbase. It’s this added space which allows the interior to accommodate an extra row of two seats or an additional 115 litres of boot space.

This increases the total boot space of the Allspace to 730 litres with the rearmost seats folded flat, or 1770 litres with only the front two seats unfolded; that’s 180 litres up on the Nissan X-Trail with the third row folded.

Externally, it looks very similar to the standard Tiguan with only minor revisions to the bonnet and front grille. And because of the extra length, the car’s profile is also slightly altered.

The Allspace also gets a revised range of engines, which begin with the 145bhp 1.4-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TDI engines, ditching the 125bhp petrol and 115bhp diesel. All-wheel drive and DSG are optional for the 145bhp engines, but are standard on all other powerplants.
