Aston's new Vanquish S soft-top 30 | 01 | 2017

ASTON MARTIN HAS released the first official images of its new Vanquish S in convertible form. Badged Vanquish S Volante, the new soft-top gets an uprated version of Aston’s 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12, producing 595bhp.

Available to order now from Aston Martin Edinburgh, it’s expected to carry a slight premium over the £199,950 of the hard top Vanquish S.

In addition to its new retractable soft-top, the Vanquish S Volante mirrors many of the same aggressive carbon fibre-based design tweaks found on its fixed-roof stablemate. The cabrio though does get new quad-exhaust outlets.

Buyers can opt for more personalisation by adding carbon fibre bonnet louvres, new five-spoke alloy and even graphics packs. Options inside the already sumptuous cabin include new Filograph quilted leather upholstery and satin chopped carbon-fibre trim.

Power from the big V12 is fed through an 8-speed Touchtronic transmission which has been tweaked, with the aim of delivering faster shift times. Aston Martin engineers have also uprated the suspension setup with re-tuned spring rates and damper internals, again with the aim of sharpening the car’s handling in sportier driving modes.

As for performance, the company has yet to confirm figures, though we believe they shouldn’t be far off those of the coupe, which hits 62mph from standstill in 3.5secs, and carries on to a maximum of 201mph.
