Cleland sells Jaguar operation 09 | 01 | 2017

THE FAMILY-OWNED Jaguar dealership in Galashiels, operated by double British Touring Car champ John Cleland, has been sold to Carlise-based retailer Lloyd Motor Group. Cleland will continue to represent Volvo in the Borders town.

The purchase by the English company, which is also family-owned, will see the Galashiels business relocate to Lloyd’s Land Rover showroom in Kelso. It means, for the first time both brands will be sold from a single site in the Borders.

Lloyd, which was founded in 1976, currently operates 22 dealerships across northern England and southern Scotland, representing Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW, Mini, Volvo, Honda, BMW Motorrad and Honda Bikes.

The company previously acquired Bateman of Lindale’s BMW and Mini site in July 2015.

“As a family-owned and family-run business, our people are our most valuable asset in establishing a brand that our customers can trust,” Bryan Lloyd, managing director of Lloyd Motors said.

“Clelands Jaguar is a great business and has a first-class team who share our passion for excellent customer service. We look forward to welcoming staff and customers to the Lloyd family.

“In the coming weeks, both companies will be working together to ensure a smooth transition. It will be business as usual and we will ensure our customers’ needs remain our priority.

“Jaguar has a fantastic range of products and some exciting developments planned which, supported by our own ideas for the business, will enhance our customers’ experience.”
