Mazda reveals 2017 CX-5 prices 31 | 03 | 2017

MAZDA HAS REVEALED prices and specs for its new CX-5 crossover, two months before the car officially goes on-sale at Scottish dealerships on June 30. (Related: Mazda reveals 2017 CX-5)

Prices start at £23,695 for the entry-level 2.0-litre petrol SE-L Nav. From launch there are also two diesels, each using the same 2.2-litre engine. The 148bhp diesel SE-L Nav starts at £25,695, with the 173bhp Sport Nav starting at £31,395.

Powered by Mazda’s unique SkyActiv engine technology, the Japanese car maker has confirmed the engine options have been tweaked. However it won’t reveal more details — including performance and fuel efficiency — till closer to the launch date

An evolution of the current model, rather than a revolution the 2017 CX-7 benefits from slimmer headlights and a slightly larger grille. At the rear, the car gets re-profiled taillights and a tweaked tailgate.

Utilising a  modified version of the existing platform, the new model’s wheelbase remains the same. However, it’s 10mm longer and sits 15mm lower.

Inside, the CX-5 gets the latest evolution of Mazda’s infotainment system. The updated version has a seven-inch display and delivers crisper visuals. There’s also a higher-resolution TFT display in the instrument panel, and the option of a head-up display that can project navigation instructions on to the inside of the windscreen.

Subtle changes to the car seats mean passengers get a slightly lower hip point, and there’s now the option of rear seat heaters and rear cabin climate control vents.

The 2017 CX-5 also benefits from a wider range of safety equipment, including the latest Mazda Radar Cruise Control and traffic sign recognition. And just for good measure, Mazda’s popular Soul Red paint scheme – now called Soul Red Crystal – is now “richer and deeper”.
