Three-seat McLaren hyper GT 23 | 03 | 2017
McLAREN’S NEW THREE-SEAT hyper GT, revealed in a new teaser sketch and codenamed BP23, will feature a hybrid powertrain when it arrives at McLaren Glasgow in 2019. (Related: McLaren plans hbrid future)
The sketch shows an elongated, swooping rear-end housing an aggressive rear diffuser and thin LED lights. We also expect the new model to have McLaren’s signature dihedral doors.
Only 106 examples of the BP23 will be produced, and according to McLaren, all of them have already been sold. First deliveries will take place in 2019.
The BP23 — who’s body will be made of shrink-wrapped carbon fibre — is known to feature a hybrid powertrain which is likely to comprise a powerful electric motor and the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 first seen in the new McLaren 720S.
McLaren's boss Mike Flewitt has already revealed the BP23 will be one of the fastest and most powerful cars that the Woking-based supercar firm has ever made.
While the BP23 clearly pays homage to the iconic F1, the first McLaren road car, the new model’s dihedral doors will be powered for the first time on a McLaren.
