Ferrari FXX-K Evo launched 31 | 10 | 2017

FERRARI HAS LAUNCHED an evolution of the LaFerrari-derived track-day FXX-K; badged, not surprisingly, the FXX-K Evo, it comes with extra downforce and extra exclusivity. (Related: Ferrari reveals 592bhp Portofino)

We can only guess at the price, as Ferrari isn’t saying. But suffice to say it’ll be more expensive than the ‘standard’ FXX-K, which will set you back around £2 million. That probably means the Evo is £2.5m-£3m.

But don’t think if the Euro Lottery comes up, you can just pick up the pone and order one. The FXX-K Evo can only be obtained if Ferrari says so. The other route is if you already own a FXX-K and you would like to upgrade your track-day specialty.

Sharing the same 6.3-litre KERS-boosted V12 as the standard FXX-K, which produces 1,036bhp and over 900Nm of torque, the FXX-K Evo sets itself apart with new aerodynamics.

There’s a 23% improvement in downforce coefficient over the standard FXX-K and 75% over the road-legal LaFerrari. At 124mph, the car generates 640kg of downforce.

Ferrari has increased the coefficient by introducing a twin-profile rear wing with two side fins and a central fin. They work in tandem to provide an extra 10 per cent rear downforce.

There’s also a re-designed rear bumper, which aids the airflow underneath the rear diffuser and adds an extra 5% in downforce. The FXX-K Evo also gets generators on the undertray, which provide 30% extra downforce overall.

Thankfully, there’s also more stopping power, with new front brake air intakes and recalibrated suspension all-round to coincide with the revised aerodynamics.
