The new Cee’d range is due to arrive in Scottish dealerships next year, beginning with the five-door hatchback and estate variants, as the bestsellers in the range.

According to the Korean manufacturer, the Proceed concept represents “extended hot hatch styling”.

It’s also influenced partly by the current three-door Pro_cee’d — note the difference in spelling between the current model, and the concept — the firm’s hot hatch.

Rumours have it that the shooting brake will actually replace the Pro_cee’d. The current three-door has seen sales dwindle. And it’s probably significant that the new concept has been badged Proceed.

The low, sleek concept boasts a steeply raked roofline and flared wheel arches. These contrast with the car's sculpted flanks. The entire glasshouse is bordered by a chrome strip, while the inclusion of a 'sharkblade' c-pillar gives the effect of a floating roof. It also sits on ‘statement’ 20in alloys.

Kia expects the shooting brake to elevate it into competition with the premium German brands, such as Audi A4  and BMW 3 Series.
