Future is orange for Sheddenposted in BTCC16 | 03 | 2016

FIFER GORDON SHEDDEN will defend his Dunlop British Touring Car Championship in a Honda boasting a brand new orange livery. The Scot's factory-backed team — which will run as Halfords Yuasa Racing — is switching from its previous white-dominant colour scheme to a new orange livery after securing a sponsorship deal with Halfords.

Halfords first linked with Team Dynamics in 2004 and stayed with the team till 2008. Two years later, Honda Honda came on board with Dynamics as a works team and since then it has run in its white livery.

The team — which, in addition to running double BTCC champ Shedden, also runs triple champ Matt Neal and Andy Neate — debuted the car today at a test at Brands Hatch.

Running in its interim orange-and-black livery, the 2016 colours will be unveiled at the BTCC Season Launch at Donington Park next Tuesday (March 22).

“We are pleased to welcome Halfords back to the fold alongside Yuasa,” Honda UK managing director Philip Crossman said today.

“Honda has achieved great success in the BTCC and with the support of these two leading brands, we are confident that by all coming together for the first time this year, we will continue to be a force to be reckoned with."

The news was also welcomed by Paul Tomlinson, Motoring Expert at Halfords.

“We are delighted to be rekindling our partnerships with Team Dynamics and Honda in the BTCC,” Tomlinson said.

“The Team Halfords era is a key part of the sport's history, winning back-to-back drivers’ and teams’ championships in 2005 and 2006, and we're very much looking forward to renewed success over the coming seasons. The BTCC is one of the most exciting racing series in the world and we're thrilled to be part of it again.”

The 2016 BTCC season gets underway with the opening triple-header at Brands Hatch on April 3, with its traditional victim to Knockhill on August 13/14.
