Jaguar reveals 200mph F-Type SVR 17 | 02 | 2016

JAGUAR HAS CONFIRMED the full specifications of its 200mph F-Type SVR, which will enter Scottish showrooms in the summer with prices starting at £110,000 (see more photographs of the Jaguar F-Type SVR).

Previously, following the leak of a brochure, Jaguar had simply confirmed the top speed of the F-Type SVR coupé.

Now the company has confirmed the car will be powered by a 567bhp, 516lb ft version of the firm’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8. The F-Type SVR is also four-wheel drive and uses an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

According to Jaguar, the newcomer — designed by Scot Ian Callum — will scorch from standstill to 60mph in 3.5sec before carrying on to its 200mph top speed.

Though the 1720kg convertible shares the coupé's 0-60mph time, its top speed has been reduced to 195mph. Economy and CO2 emissions figures are the same for both cars, at 25.0mpg and 269g/km respectively.

The SVR gets an updated version of the aerodynamic package used by the F-Type R, on which it's obviously based, gaining a new front end, a flat underfloor and a carbonfibre active rear wing.

Jaguar gurus have tweaked the chassis, fitting new dampers and anti-roll bars, further supplemented by stiffer rear knuckles. The SVR also benefits from wider tyres, which wraparound lightweight 20in forged alloy wheels, plus carbon-ceramic brakes.

And according to Jaguar, there's “an even more purposeful, harder-edged sound” from the new titanium exhaust.

“The new F-Type SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design," Jaguar Land Rover's special operations managing director, John Edwards, said.

“The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar you can drive every day. We even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system.”

The SVR coupé starts at £110,000, with  the convertible from £115,485. Order books are open at Scottish Jaguar dealerships now for both models, with first deliveries expected in the summer.
