Smart introduces online car sales 09 | 01 | 2017

SMART HAS LAUNCHED a new website offering a complete online sales solution for customers buying its fortwo and forfour hatchbacks.

Buyers can reserve a car online by placing a £250 holding deposit after creating an online account and completing a credit application. They can then also chose whether to collect their new smart from a local retailer, or have their car delivered direct to their home.

Crucially from the buyer’s perspective, an immediate link with their local dealer is established as the retailers will handle the completion of the handover.

Buyers on the website can choose from a number of pre-configured models based on the prime model line-up. There’s also a choice from three payment options – lower monthly payment, a standard offer, or a lower deposit.

Smart models available to buy online have a power output of 71PS; the fortwo returns 68.9mpg at the pumps, and the fourfor 67.3mpg.

The prime model line includes a panoramic glass roof, 15in five-twin-spoke alloy wheels, black leather-covered seats and the smart Media System, which features a 7in touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity.

The full range of Smart products and options remains exclusive to the Smart retail network.

According to Smart, online customers’ will have credit applications processed within 48 hours and that their new car could be with them within 12 days.

“Almost anything can be bought online now and we’re delighted to offer this option to our customers when purchasing their Smart,” Krishan Bodhani, head of Smart in the UK, said.

“It’s really easy to do and is extremely time-efficient, enabling a customer to make a reservation, fill in a credit application and sign a contract at a time and place that works for them.”
