The range will start with the entry level petrol 1.4-litre TSI. Developing 148bhp, it’ll be capable of returning a claimed 47mpg. The petrol range will also include two options of the 2.0-litre, developing either 178bhp or 216bhp.
All three diesels are based on the 2.0TDI, The entry-level engine has 148bhp, alongside 178bhp and 236bhp options.
While 4MOTION all-wheel-drive is an option on the 148bhp 2.0TD, it’s not available on the 148bhp petrol model. It is though standard on the other four engines and paired with a dual-clutch gearbox. (Related: Scots VW dealers open 2017 Golf order books)
The Tiguan Allspace, which made its global debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January, is 215mm longer the standard car. It also gets a subtle new look, with a different bonnet and grille.
The Allspace also sits on a wheelbase which has been increased by 110mm over the standard Tiguan, resulting in 60mm more legroom in the back seats. There’s also an additional 115 litres of boot space.
The third row of seats — which will turn the Tiguan Allspace into a seven-seater SUV — will be available as an option.
VW has yet to confirm a specific launch date for the car in the UK, and prices will be revealed closer to the cars entering Scottish dealerships.
