New Hyundai Kona teaser 30 | 05 | 2017

HYUNDAI HAS REVEALED its latest teaser image and video for the forthcoming all-new small SUV, the Kona. It’s set to go head-to-head with the likes of the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur, and is scheduled to go on-sale at Scottish dealerships in October. (Watch the new video here)

It’s clear the newcomer boasts plenty of aggressive folds and sharp lines, and there are chunky wheels tucked under the wheelarches. We can also see the Kona has a rakish side profile, while at the back it gets horizontal taillights and a skid plate which sneaks out of the rear bumper.

The sporty look is further accentuated by the large five spoke alloy-wheels with black highlights.

Inside the cabin there’s brand new technology from Hyundai in the form of an 8in head-up display which sits above the instruments and displays speed and sat nav directions.

When the Kona arrives in Scotland in the autumn, it’ll be the smallest SUV in Hyundai’s range, sitting beneath both the Tucson and Santa Fe.

Hyundai is remaining understandably tightlipped about the Kona, but it’s expected to be based on the chassis of the current i20. It’s also likely to get powerplants from the Hyundai i30, meaning a mix of turbocharged 1.0 three-cylinder and 1.4 four-cylinder petrol engines, plus a 1.6 diesel offered in at least two power outputs.
